I wrote this song about one of my longtime livestream viewers Nixie who’d always talk about her big dreams for our future world. Little did I know I’d meet her in person years later and we’d end up in love. Now we live together and I can play “Nixie Dreams” for her whenever she wants 💕

Last night I won “Best Song” at the Song Contest presented by Songwriters At Play in Solvang, CA. I won for my song “Say It a Thousand Times” about the struggle for positive body image and the power of saying affirmations in the mirror. The reception this song got makes me realize how real and universal this silent issue is. Myself and so many close confiding friends have admitted we see the little things we hate first when we glance in the mirror. But the truth is, no matter your shape, size, age, or appearance you can choose to loathe yourself or to love yourself. It is not easy. But with time and persistence we can grow. Start today. Say “I love you” in the mirror when brushing your teeth. Say it every day til it no longer sounds awkward, then keep going til it is sincere. Say it a thousand times. You deserve to feel this about yourself! Shoutout to my friend @entirelytalia for inviting me to write the song for her Body Love Open Mic years ago and for all her work in the community to heal this part of us 💙 Thanks so much @songwritersatplay for the opportunity! Thank you judges for seeing me! Thanks @nixiedeeig and my friends who came out to support me! Congrats to the other winners and to all the contestants because it was steep competition for sure! 👏 👏 👏
